South Orange Transportation
Located in North Central New Jersey and falls in
Essex County. Not that you may realize as you walk
through its peaceful historic streets, but the township
is only 20 miles from New York. Nearby are the towns of
Summit, Chatham, Livingston, Millburn & Short Hills,
Maplewood and Springfield.
By Car From Manhattan
Take the Lincoln Tunnel or George Washington Bridge to
the NJ Turnpike South or the Holland Tunnel to the
Turnpike Extension. Get off at Exit 14 for Newark
Airport and I-78 West.
Stay to the far right immediately after leaving the toll
booth to get on the local lanes of I-78 West. If you
onto the express by mistake, you can switch over in a
few miles where you are directed to stay to the right
for the Garden State Parkway.
Take Exit 50b for Millburn and Maplewood/South Orange
Turn right at the light at the end of the exit ramp on
to Vauxhall Road and proceed for 4 traffic lights. Cross
over Millburn Avenue, at the Exxon station, to continue
in the same direction when this road becomes Ridgewood
Road.
To get to Maplewood Train Station turn right at the
blinker on Baker Street. Proceed to Maplewood Avenue,
and turn left. The second parking lot on your right is
between Ricalton Square and the Maplewood Train Station
For the South Orange Train Station stay on Ridgewood
Road for 2.1 miles until you get to the second blinker
light where Ridgewood Road turns left. Go another 1/10th
of a mile to South Orange Avenue. Turn right, go under
the railroad trestle and turn right onto Sloan Street.
The South Orange Train Station is there on your right.
